Here at Poggio del Moro we have chosen to adopt a holistic approach to the care of the vineyard and the company as a whole. What does it mean? We’ll explain it to you right away. Our policy is based on respecting the balance of this complex and fascinating ecosystem. The seasons, in fact, offer moments of climatic adversity that, if faced only with a traditional approach, risk then to request the recourse to an excessive number of treatments.

Consequently – net of the fact that we have decided to ban any kind of herbicide from our vineyard – we choose to use synthetic products for the treatment of vines only when necessary. This means that, if the season allows, we carry on an “organic” management, without resorting to any artificial treatment. In this way we are able to remedy the problems that arise with a single intervention, instead of a long series of treatments that, to be effective, require constant repetition over time, with the consequent use of motor vehicles and, therefore, of fuels scattered in the air and on the ground.

It is, first of all, an ethical choice: leaving free and spontaneous the many varieties of plants that populate this ecosystem, which grows every day around the vineyards, we contribute to the establishment of a bacterial flora that makes this environment more balanced, so natural. This biodiversity, at Poggio del Moro, has a really crazy impact, both from the point of view of the landscape and for the production of wine.

Here at Poggio del Moro, we also use lunar calendars to conduct wine processing, following a millennial principle. The “decanting” of the wine, therefore, are carried out only during the “waning moon” period, when the natural deposits do not rise upwards. And so, in the 14 hectares of our vineyard, the varieties grow harmonious, in organic, in an intact natural habitat.
